On 23 May, the City of Bruges, in collaboration with Mieco-effect, the Province of West Flanders, VITO, INAGRO, and VLM, will host the inaugural work session of NBRACER.
This event will spotlight climate adaptation strategies for the Maleveld area in Bruges and its surroundings, extending from Damme to Sijsele/Oedelem.
Focus and Objectives
The primary objective of this session is to develop a comprehensive vision for one sub-area within West Flanders, presenting well-substantiated interventions aimed at enhancing climate resilience. This pilot area will serve as a model for other regions facing similar climate challenges.
The event will place a special focus on the Maleveld and the surronding area, considering its unique geographical and environmental characteristics. The discussions and activities will span the region from Damme to Sijsele/Oedelem, ensuring a holistic approach to climate adaptation.
The workshop aims to foster collaboration among a diverse group of participants, including local, provincial, and Flemish government officials, partner organizations, and knowledge institutions. The NBRACER consortium, known for its international expertise in climate resilience, will also play a crucial role in the discussions.
Participants will engage in in-depth discussions on the risks posed by climate change in the region and explore the potential of nature-based and other innovative solutions to address these challenges.
