Quinta de Salgueiros, demo site from Porto Municipality in NBRACER, located in Campanhã, is on its way to becoming a new green space for the city.
A natural laboratory with woods, meadows and streams. This site intends to be a meeting point for knowledge and leisure, sharing and curiosity, innovation and tradition. To start promote some a sense of belonging to the site, Porto Municipality opened Quinta de Salgueiros for residents and general public with guided visits, in January.
During a week, 150 visitors had the opportunity to visit the city’s green space which is currently on project phase and will be intervened under the NBRACER project. Among several guided tours and activities for children, the Municipality of Porto invited everyone to take part in the future plans for this historic space in Campanhã by filling a questionnaire.
The visits contacted with a more detailed view of the recovery process of Quinta de Salgueiros and the interventions planned for the future, namely the conversion into an urban public park and the creation of nature-based solutions laboratory.
During the sessions, participants were able to, not only explore the natural and cultural heritage of the Quinta, but also share their experiences and opinions about the site and how it can be improved. The aim was to identify the needs of the population, in particular residents, and understand if the project covered most of them.
After this first initiative, other visits and activities are being planned for Quinta de Salgueiros site, the dates and registrations will be disseminated in the municipality channel: EcoAgenda.
