From 13–15 October 2025, Brussels hosted the European Week of Regions and Cities – the EU’s flagship event on regional and urban policy. Under this year’s theme, “Shaping Tomorrow, Together,” the event brought together thousands of participants, including policymakers, researchers, and innovators, to explore collaborative solutions for Europe’s most pressing regional challenges.

As part of the NBS4EU Cluster, NBRACER joined sister Horizon Europe projects LAND4CLIMATE and CARDIMED EU to highlight how Nature-based Solutions are driving regional adaptation to climate change while enhancing resilience, biodiversity, and community wellbeing.

Workshop: Peer-to-Peer Learning on Replicating and Upscaling Nature-based Solutions for Climate Adaptation

On 14 October, the NBS4EU Cluster hosted an interactive workshop titled “Peer-to-peer learning on replicating and upscaling Nature-based Solutions for climate adaptation.” The session explored how regions can move beyond individual NbS projects toward systemic regional transformation, fostering dialogue between policymakers, researchers, and practitioners.

Discussions focused on practical pathways to:

  • Integrate Nature-based Solutions into regional development agendas,
  • Engage citizens and the private sector, and
  • Leverage ERDF funding to accelerate the green transition.

The workshop featured insightful contributions from Remco Kranendonk, who represented the cluster on the panel, and Aline Dahm who participated by sharing perspectives from ongoing Horizon Europe projects. Their interventions underscored the importance of collaboration and peer learning in achieving climate adaptation at scale.

A Collective Step Towards Systemic Change

By sharing hands-on experiences from Living Labs, regional pilots, and multi-stakeholder collaborations, the NBS4EU Cluster showcased how NbS can become a cornerstone of regional planning and policy. The dialogue reflected a shared ambition: to connect science, policy, and practice for a more resilient and sustainable Europe.
