On Tuesday 2 June 2026, the Etablissement Public Garonne, Gascogne et affluents pyrénéens, AcclimaTerra and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region organised the technical day “S’appuyer sur les écosystèmes pour une Garonne plus résiliente” in the framework of the European NBRACER project.
The event brought together nearly 50 participants, including elected representatives, technical experts, partners and local stakeholders, to exchange on concrete solutions being developed across the Garonne basin in response to climate change.
The morning session provided an opportunity to discover several practical projects implemented by territorial actors, with discussions focusing on how ecosystem-based approaches and Nature-based Solutions can help strengthen the resilience of the Garonne and surrounding territories. AcclimaTerra also presented ongoing work linked to the preparation of a thematic publication on Nature-based Solutions in the context of climate change in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
In the afternoon, participants visited one of the infiltration demonstration sites of the RAMAGE project. This innovative experimental approach aims to recharge the Garonne’s alluvial aquifer in order to support low-flow periods and contribute to the wider mix of adaptation measures being developed in response to decreasing water resources. In the long term, the approach could be replicated across several sites.
Despite rainy weather during the morning, the field visit offered participants a valuable opportunity to see the RAMAGE approach in practice and to discuss its potential contribution to climate adaptation in the Garonne basin.
The technical day created a constructive space for sharing experience, strengthening cooperation and connecting regional initiatives with the wider NBRACER objective: supporting Atlantic regions in developing and scaling Nature-based Solutions for climate resilience.
NBRACER warmly thanks all participants and contributing partners for their engagement and the quality of the exchanges throughout the day.
