Paris, March 18, 2025 – The NBRACER project successfully led and concluded its 4th General Assembly on March 11-12, 2025, bringing together 31 partners dedicated to advancing Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and strengthening climate resilience across the European Atlantic Biogeographical Region, both demonstrating and replicating : Cantabria, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Central Denmark, Porto Municipality, West-Flanders, East-Flanders, Cávado, and Friesland.
Over the course of these two days, partners shared key updates on ongoing demonstrator projects, highlighting their unique progress in implementing NbS tailored to the various landscapes they represent, from urban environments to rural and marine & coastal ecosystems. These promising updates reinforced not only the critical role of NbS in addressing region-specific challenges while contributing to broader sustainable development goals but also strengthened partners’ resolve to maintaining steadfast efforts to lead NBRACER to a successful conclusion.
Collaborative breakout sessions fostered in-depth discussions on co-designing and scaling NbS and participants were able to speak out and emphasize the importance of stakeholder engagement, collaboration and communication, ensuring that local communities play an active role in shaping solutions adapted to their unique environmental and socio-economic contexts. During this time, 8 presentations on regional progress further illustrated how NbS initiatives are being implemented and replicated, offering valuable insights into NBRACER’s progress over the last 18 months and opening the floor for a rich discussion on best practices and innovative approaches going forward.
Strategic planning was also a focal point of the assembly, with partners refining methodologies to integrate NbS into regional adaptation strategies and discussions underscored the need to embed these solutions into broader policy frameworks, ensuring that NbS become a fundamental pillar of long-term climate resilience efforts.
As NBRACER proudly moves forward, the insights and strategies developed during this assembly will guide its next steps in mainstreaming NbS across the Atlantic biographical area. The NBRACER Consortium remain strongly committed to fostering climate-resilient communities through innovation, collaboration, and the continuous exchange of knowledge.
