The European Geosciences Union (EGU) Conference, held from 3–8 May 2026 in Vienna, brought together leading researchers, practitioners, and policymakers working at the forefront of geosciences and climate resilience. NBRACER was proud to contribute actively to this year’s programme, highlighting its ongoing work on advancing Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) for water resilience across Europe.

Mainstreaming Nature-based Solutions for Water Resilience

A key moment of the conference was the session convened by Elisa Furlan, titled “Mainstreaming Nature-based Solutions for water resilience: turning the EU strategy into action.” The session gathered a wide range of experts and projects, fostering dialogue on how to translate EU strategies into concrete, impactful actions.

NBRACER partners were strongly represented throughout the session, contributing both oral presentations and poster exhibitions that showcased innovative approaches, tools, and frameworks.

Advancing Collaboration and Impact

The strong presence of NBRACER at EGU 2026 reflects the project’s commitment to fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and supporting the mainstreaming of Nature-based Solutions across diverse European regions.

Through tools such as participatory learning approaches, system-wide planning methodologies, and integrated risk assessment frameworks, NBRACER continues to contribute to building climate resilience and sustainable water management practices.

Looking Ahead

Participation in EGU 2026 provided a valuable opportunity to connect with the wider scientific and policy community, exchange insights, and strengthen synergies with related initiatives.

NBRACER will continue to build on these discussions and collaborations to further support the implementation of effective, scalable, and inclusive Nature-Based Solutions for water resilience across Europe.
