At the Fourth Forum for the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change in Wrocław, Poland, in May 2025, Yohanna Cabaret, Regional Coordinator of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, showcased the NBRACER project alongside the NBS4EU cluster. The forum brought together regions, cities, local authorities, European institutions, and other partners to share experiences, exchange knowledge, and present practical adaptation solutions.
At Panel 3: Innovation is Key, which focused on learning from the achievements and adaptation solutions of regions in Mission projects, Yohanna Cabaret shared the NBRACER approach to Nature-based Solutions for climate adaptation. The panel was moderated by Philippe Tulkens, Deputy Mission Manager and Head of Unit at the Directorate-General for Research & Innovation, European Commission, and included contributions from six regions presenting innovative solutions developed through Mission projects:
-
Silvia Ghiretti, Project and Policy Manager, ERRIN (Belgium)
-
Raitis Madžulis, Project Manager, Zemgale Planning Region (Latvia)
-
Minna Kivimäki, RESIST Project Manager, City of Turku (Finland)
-
Alessandro Attolico, Resilience Hub Coordinator, Province of Potenza (Italy)
-
Yohanna Cabaret, NBRACER Project Regional Coordinator, Region Nouvelle Aquitaine (France)
-
Grzegorz Synowiec and Monika Pec-Święcicka, LifeCoolCity, Municipality of Wrocław (Poland)
Participation in the panel provided an opportunity for NBRACER to share experiences, exchange insights with other projects and regions, and discuss practical approaches to climate adaptation. The session concluded with a Q&A and interactive discussion, fostering dialogue and knowledge sharing among participants.

Coastal Wetlands Restoration
This demonstrator focused on a coastal wetland recognized as a remarkable natural heritage site. The project aimed to:
-
Restore ecological and hydrological functions
-
Support river dynamics
-
Monitor groundwater response to interventions
-
Use a side channel to retain and release water during low-flow periods
-
Improve sediment dynamics and water temperature
-
Enhance biodiversity
Both projects demonstrated practical strategies for sustainable water management in the context of climate change.
Collective Impact in the Poster Exhibition
In the poster exhibition, NBRACER collaborated with sister projects to present a joint poster showcasing the collective impact of the #NBS4EU cluster. The cluster brings together seven Horizon Europe projects—CARDIMED EU, DesirMED, LAND4CLIMATE, MountResilience, NatalieProject, and NBRACER—working together to scale up Nature-based Solutions for climate adaptation across Europe.
The collaboration already supports around 70 regions and municipalities and is working to help 150 regions become climate-resilient by 2030, demonstrating the cluster’s growing reach and ambition.
The Fourth Forum for the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change offered an important opportunity to share lessons learned, highlight achievements, and strengthen collaboration for a climate-resilient Europe.
